A former senior South Korean government official will take over the chief executive role at Kangwon Land Inc., a casino resort promoter, from April 8, according to Tuesday's filing with the Korea Exchange.

According to the documents, Lee Sam-gul replaces Moon Tae-gon, Korea's only domestic casino operator.

Lee was the vice minister of South Korea's Ministry of Public Administration and Security from 2011 to 2013. Prior to the role, he was the lieutenant governor of North Gyeongsang Province from 2008 to 2011.

The document states that Lee's appointment for the new position is three years.

President Moon was appointed CEO of Kangwon Land from December 2017 for a three-year term. Mr. HR previously worked for Samsung Life Insurance, the Board of Audit and Inspection, and the Ministry of Government Administration and Defense, respectively.
